A duplex with porch and garden

One of the advantages of acquiring a new housing It is not usually necessary to embark on annoying reforms. However, in the case of this Barcelona duplex that advantage became an inconvenience, since the owners did not like some of the finishes chosen by the construction company. For example, they would have preferred a wooden floor instead of the ceramic tiles installed.

But they were clear that the replacement of the pavement of the whole house was a work of great importance and a cost too high. That's why they went to the interior designer Mónica Pérez Santana, from Estudio Cometalledo, to give a different air to the house only with decorative resources. The floor problem was solved with carpets that hid the tiles and also visually delimited each environment. The latter was an essential function, since the decoration of common areas It was based on creating a single diaphanous space that gave a feeling of spaciousness.

From the hall you pass, through a bay without a door, to the living room, and next to it is the dining room. To further enhance continuity, a very effective solution was used: using a color - in this case, orange - as a link between the three environments. The hall lamp, the upholstery in the living area and the orange-painted chairs in the dining room visually delimit this shared space. What's more, this color is also used in porch pads. Here, the interior designer organized a pleasant seating area with a sofa, an armchair and a couple of coffee tables that allow you to enjoy the garden.

Monica Pérez Santana also focused on the kitchen. As it was very spacious, in the center a daily dining room was created with two joined tables and several folding chairs. In addition, the construction company had covered the kitchen with a white tile base and tone paint. Although it was very bright, it was somewhat cold, especially considering that it was going to make much of family life.

To make it more cozy, the wall was painted in a soft taupe, and the dining room was delimited with a mat. The loft - without a doubt, the great attraction of the house - was reserved to mount a bedroom type suite, with bathroom and terrace. Again, the color was used to enhance the feeling of unity: in the rest area a carpet of gray coconut fiber was placed, the same tone in which the walls of the bathroom were painted. Regarding furniture, the idea was not to recharge the space with a profusion of objects.

Nor did they want to create monotonous environments with designs of the same style. That is why selected pieces of different materials were chosen. Like the bench that acts as a console in the hall, the iron coffee table or the banana seats in the living room. A suggestive combination of shapes and finishes with which original environments were achieved.
